The campaign, run by drinks giant Bacardi, is set against a backdrop of their recent brand launch, “Dance With Me”. The flat poster campaign, which complements the launch in other media, revolves around an image of dancing characters set against a fashionable backdrop. Fallons of London, responsible for the creative elements of the campaign, looked to Create 3D to provide a flat, single-colour graphic to fit ‘6 sheet’ poster units that would incorporate 3D effect and motion.
The final brief was enable the viewer to interact with the dancer and 'move' with the image. The poster character ‘responds’ by replaying at the same speed as the viewer. It is the first time that a flat poster has provided 3D viewing and motion in the same image.
Create 3D’s Managing Director Professor Malcolm McCormick is very pleased with the results, which have been seen across the country, specifically in shopping centres & cinema foyers. He said: “It was a challenging project but certainly one which fitted what Create 3D are all about. “
Frame-by-frame footage was taken from digital video and translated via the Create 3D processing team using specially invented software. The team also assisted in the film shoot arranged by Fallons in London.
According to Professor McCormick: “The process is unique and not available anywhere else. When we had produced the original image we then looked to our specialist digital printing partners, The Art Department in Nottingham, to produce the 46 finished panels.”
